On Tuesday 18 November 2014, Halifax in bloom, Ovenden Initiative and Pupils from Dean Field Community Primary School came together and marked 10 years of bulb planting by planting thousands more daffodil bulbs along the driveway of Dean Field School and Cousin Lane Ovenden

In November 2004 the bulb planting began with 85,000 jet fire daffodil bulbs being planted on the central reservations from top to bottom on Ovenden Way and every spring you can see a stunning display of daffodils.

Every child who attends the school got involved along with Dean field Parents and Friends Association, teachers, support staff and councillors from the Ovenden Ward to mark the ten year anniversary.

Karen Scanlon – Ward Link Worker for Ovenden Initiative said:

“It’s a fantastic way to mark the occasion and to enable all the young people from Dean Field Community School to be involved in creating some local history that will reward Ovenden with years of blooming daffodils.”

Halifax in Bloom and Dean field PFA put in a bid to the Ovenden Community First to work in partnership alongside the Ovenden Initiative, Safer Cleaner Greener Team at Calderdale Council and the Junior Wardens from Dean field Community Primary School Cousin Lane.

Look out for the sea of yellow from February 2015 along Cousin Lane, Ovenden.
